In 1919, shortly after designing Engholms Slott, renowned architect, Tore E:son Lindhberg, dreamed up this Classicist-style, waterfront villa. Over a century later, our team was tasked with transforming the grand interior and exterior into an unpretentious family home. With four young children, practicality was paramount when reimagining each room. As such, under-utilised formal spaces such as the dining room, sitting room and library were repurposed to create a cosy sunroom, family games room and playful children’s den.
A predominantly grey and blue colour palette was employed to respectfully modernise the interior while still delivering spaces that are relaxed, tactile and warm. Antique and contemporary pieces coalesce to create a finely curated interior and further emphasise the juxtaposition between old and new. Multiple outdoor living spaces amongst the sprawling gardens enhance the connection between interior and exterior while the addition of a playhouse, swingset and trampoline create an idyllic outdoor setting for the home’s younger inhabitants.
