Located in Vasastan, one of Stockholm´s most prestigious neighbourhoods, our brief was to create a contemporary, open plan home to suit the needs of the young family who live within. While tasked with modernising both the look and layout of this 125 square metre apartment, it was important for our team to seamlessly and respectfully integrate the original late 19th Century architectural and interior detailing. Relocating the kitchen and removing a large section of wall allowed us to create a generous open plan living space, improving the flow of the apartment and encouraging connection between the inhabitants. As well as space planning, we selected materials, finishes, fixtures and fittings throughout the apartment in order to create a cohesive family home. The airy atmosphere created by the generous ceiling height and abundance of natural light is further emphasised with a Scandinavian colour palette of soft greys and natural timbers. Brass accents and dusty pink tones add a level of chic sophistication to the space. Beautifully restored plaster details such as architraves and ceiling roses form an integral part of the interior decoration, providing a strong juxtaposition between old and new.
